  • Diarrhea and/or vomiting in the last 24 hours

  • Pink eye or other eye infection

  • Sore throat

  • Persistent sneezing or coughing

  • Skin infections: unidentified rash, impetigo, boils, ringworm, etc.

  • Childhood diseases: chicken pox, mumps, measles, rubella, whooping cough, etc.

  • Antibiotic treatment for less than 24 hours

  • First 3 days of a cold

If any of these symptoms present while a child is in our care, we will contact you to pick up your child so that you can offer appropriate TLC and we can safeguard the rest of the class. In the event your child develops a childhood disease or lice shortly after being in a classroom, please contact one of the Kids' Ministry staff.

Safety Procedures

We hold the safety of our families and children in the highest regard. Our Kids' Ministry team follows these guidelines to ensure the protection of all our classrooms, volunteers and, especially, our children.

CHECK IN/OUT
  • Parents check in their children at a kiosk and are given a numbered receipt and name tags. One name tag goes on the child and the other on the classroom roster.

  • A volunteer is stationed at every classroom exit. NO child, birth-5th grade, may be released without presentation of the security receipt.

  • If the receipt is lost parents must fill out a Liability Release Form and show a photo ID.

GENERAL SAFETY POLICIES
  • A minimum of two volunteers must be present before children may be admitted to their room.

  • In the even we need to contact you during the service, the security tag number will be displayed on the screens in the Worship Center. If serving or attending an ABF, please write your cell phone number on the classroom roster and we will call or text you as needed.

  • Volunteers are identified by a Kids’ Quest lanyard.

ALLERGIES
  • All or our rooms are peanut-free zones.

  • If your child has any allergies or special dietary needs and can’t eat what we have provided, please inform the classroom leader and bring an appropriate snack.

VOLUNTEER APPROVAL

The Grove Church uses the following protocol in approving volunteers for any children’s classroom. Each prospective volunteer goes through this process:

  • Fill out a volunteer application

  • Pass a criminal background check

  • Have 1-2 references contacted

  • Meet with a member of the Children’s Ministry staff for an interview

  • A list of potential volunteers is circulated to other staff for internal feedback

EMERGENCY & EVACUATION PLANS

We have a written and rehearsed emergency plan so that we can move all kids safely should a situation occur that requires us to evacuate the building or take cover.

  • In the event of an evacuation, nursery children will be moved to the north parking lot and all others to the south parking lot. You may pick them up there using the same security receipt as always.

  • In the case of severe weather, preschoolers will take cover in the Climbers (2 year old) Room and all others in the Surge Room.

  • Parents are not allowed to intercept their child as we’re moving to our designated safety zones. Please adhere to our safety plan so that kids can be moved quickly and safely and bottlenecks prevented.
